Should the running of a country be in the hands of politicians or competent businessmen?
Do our politicians have respect for the people and their money? Do they respect the economy?
The most disappointing aspect of State Capture and the Guptas is the lack of respect for our country and its economy.
The Gupta's treated us like fools. They and their supporters laughed at us every time complaints were made. Their mantra was and still is "They can't catch me!" And of course, they are right. No one in the country can touch the Guptas or corrupt politicians. But should we fall over and let them disrespect us?
South African people are fighters with pride.
Why do we sit back and get treated like idiots?
Why do we watch while they rape and loot?
Why do we watch while Eskom burns and tries to recover the losses from the public as though the public can save Eskom.
Eskom, for one, does not stand a chance with the present economy. The local people cannot generate enough money to save it. Its needs management by people who respect the economy and have a long terms vision.
There is one hope.
Historically politicians served the people and they were paid a salary. There was no conflict of interests. They did not make secret and underhand profits from business with the State. If politicians want to compete with business then entrepreneurs should take them on.
Even in business, directors are required to disclose interests that could conflict with the company’s interests. Why is that not the case in politics? There is a huge conflict between the State and private interests. If should not be supported. It should be stamped out.
If there is huge money to be made by being a politician then the entrepreneurs should take an interest. Why leave the management of State money to people who have no skills in business, no skills in politics, no skills in running a country. No respect for the South African people and the South African economy. No long-term vision for South African.
Would you invest money to build RDP houses with a politician who you knew for certain would take 10 % off the top for doing absolutely nothing or with a skilled business person? Why give 10% or any money at all to someone whose only interest is to harm the economy.
There is not enough awareness in the country that to permit or condone politicians looting will sink the country. There is no end to the damage that will be done. We already know that in the hands of the present government with its present ideals of corruption will take South Africa to a place it will never recover from.
Do South Africans want to live like the other poverty-stricken countries of the world?
Wake up people! The ship is sinking. Let's not wait for a civil war. We cant sit back and hope for a lucky break!
